Meditation in the Office

Getting in a meditation session each day is a great way to manage stress and cultivate resilience. However many of us spend the majority of our day in an office that is often not conducive to meditating. Nearly all offices are open plan these days and I think closing your eyes at your desk for 20 minutes may not suit most people.

So where can you meditate during work hours?

When I started meditating and doing 2 x 20 minutes meditation per day, I needed one of these to be during work hours. Before lunch time I would leave the office and go to a the park and meditate there.

If I could not leave the office I would book a meeting room and that was actually a decent second option. Many meeting rooms have sound proofing and can be peaceful places considering all that is going on nearby.

Nowadays building and even offices have dedicated wellness rooms so I recommend finding out where that is and if you can book it.

Otherwise get your company to book a weekly meditation session where a meditation teacher comes in for 30 minutes to a meeting room. Plays some music to change the atmosphere, briefs your staff on how to approach the meditation, guides the meditation and does a short debrief. Your staff leave calm and refreshed ready to refocus for the rest of the day.
